The open call will get place from April 28th to June 30th of 2025.
To commemorate the 25th anniversary of VM FOTO’s creation, we’re holding an analog photo contest under the theme “In community”. This year we wanted to pay tribute to our laboratory and its long history with a contest that will take place in 2025. The theme “In community” has been decided based on conveying an open idea to the contestants; the ideas of a group, a family, spaces, people, animals, neighbors, friends, centers, houses, etc. Creative freedom will be implicit in the participation of each contestant and imagination will always be welcomed.
The open call will get place from April 28th to June 30th of 2025. During this period, all projects that meet the requirements specified in the participation rules may be submitted.
We’re excited to see your images and share a bit of our daily life with you. We encourage you to participate to exchange perspectives, points of view and experiences about analog photography, our most trusted method of expression.
Maral evolved her passion for photography from a childhood hobby to a profound artistic pursuit. She draws true inspiration from people, with a particular focus on women. Her subjects are depicted as powerful and provocative, often captured with dramatic lighting, unique poses and expressive faces that convey deep emotion and strength.
Drawing inspiration from iconic photographers such as Helmot Newton, Richard Avedon and Herb Ritts, she’s able to create a combination between modern aesthetics and classic technique that gives her work a timeless quality, making her photos stand out in the contemporary art scene. The unfiltered, candid nature of street photography is evident in her portraits, adding layers of authenticity and depth.
Fard explores the dynamic interplay of motion and stillness, creating images that pulsate with life. Her work not only freezes moments in time but also tells compelling stories, revealing the beauty and complexity of human experience through her lens.

Paola is a Barcelona-based photographer driven by a deep curiosity about people and their stories. Her work is based on capturing those authentic moments and emotional connections – whether perfectly posed or totally spontaneous- that offer a glimpse into who people are at their core.
She looks for bold concepts and big ideas, but knows that often it is the smallest detail or the least obvious element that can make a difference. On every shoot, she’d like to provoke a feeling, an experience, or a memory that resonates long past the time and place of when the photo is taken.
Her background includes editorial, lifestyle, brand, and reportage, and her work has appeared in many global publications and won several awards. She also teaches meaningful portraiture to second-year students at IEFC Barcelona.
2025 is all about projects that make a difference, work that truly resonates. Alongside her photography, she’s been drawing all her life and is currently exploring ways to bring her drawing skills into her creative practice.
